Terms of Service

Last updated 29 October 2026

Tempo is made in Perth, Western Australia. These terms apply to your use of the Tempo app for macOS, the Tempo push relay and this website (together, the "Service"). "Tempo", "we" and "us" mean the developer of Tempo. By downloading or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Using Tempo

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Tempo on Macs you own or control, for your own personal or business email, while you follow these terms.

You must not:

  • use Tempo to send spam, malware, phishing or other unlawful or abusive messages;
  • break, overload or try to get unauthorised access to the Service, the push relay or any email provider;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or modify Tempo, except where the law allows it regardless of this restriction;
  • resell, rent or redistribute Tempo without our written permission.

2. Your accounts and content

You're responsible for the email accounts you connect and for keeping your Mac and credentials secure. Your email belongs to you. Tempo processes it on your device only to provide the app's features, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Your use of Gmail, Outlook, Microsoft 365 or any other email provider is also governed by that provider's terms. We aren't responsible for those services, their availability, or changes they make that affect Tempo.

3. Early access

Tempo is in early development. Features may change, be removed or not work as expected. Actions like archiving, deleting and moving mail are carried out on your provider's servers, so keep backups of anything important.

4. Push relay

The push relay is offered to make new mail arrive faster. We may change, limit or stop it at any time. When it's unavailable, Tempo falls back to checking for mail on a schedule.

5. Updates

We may release updates that fix bugs, add features or change how Tempo works. Some updates may be needed to keep using the Service or to stay compatible with email providers.

6. Fees

Tempo is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features or plans, we'll tell you the price and terms before you're charged anything.

7. Intellectual property

Tempo, its code, design and the Tempo name and icon are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These terms don't give you any rights to them other than the licence in section 1.

8. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that messages will always be delivered, synced or kept.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost email, lost profits or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or A$50.

Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded. Where we're allowed to limit our liability for breaching such a guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the Service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

11. Ending these terms

You can stop using Tempo at any time by removing your accounts and deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access to the Service if you break these terms or if we stop offering it. Sections 7 to 12 continue to apply after these terms end.

12. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia and the courts that can hear appeals from them.

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part of these terms isn't a waiver of it. You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganisation.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or on this site before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the updated terms.
